Are you downsizing? Did a loved on pass away? Are you moving? Your first thought is "I need to have an estate sale - HELP!" Here are some tips from our experts to get your started.
- Expect the process to be emotional. The cookie jar reminds you of grandma, that model car tells a story of your Dad's first car -- we know this process is filled with feelings and we keep that in mind throughout the entire process.
- Keep the memories, but loose the stuff! Are there key treasures that you can display that hold the most memories? Separate or box those items up and let the rest of it go!
- Transfer the ownership! Remember that the new owner will cherish the item or have good use for it.
- Understand that most estate sale companies are booked in advanced and that showcasing your items take time. Start talking to us 2-3 months before your desired sale date.
- First step - we will schedule a time to come by and talk with you about the goal of your sale. We personalize the approach. It is also helpful for us to see the items (even if some are in boxes) to gauge how long the set-up will be and what kind of sale we recommend.
- Be mindful of holidays - buyers are likely busy with holiday activities around major holidays. Just another reason to contact us early in the process!
